A non-alcoholic bar and bottle shop in North Winton Village, officially opened on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Rochester's new AltBar, a non-alcoholic bar and bottle shop in North Winton Village , officially opened on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. Rochester, N.Y. —
AltBar is the first of its kind in Rochester, and the bar's opening coincides with Sober October, a month dedicated to exploring alcohol-free living. The bar offers a unique space for socializing without alcohol, catering to those who are sober, sober-curious, or simply choosing not to drink. This small business, owned by husband-and-wife team Bob and Meg Hartman, has been running pop-ups since December 2021 and will now have a permanent location.
"My husband quit drinking 5 years ago and we really missed a place to go and socialize," said Meg Hartman. "We love to go out and get drinks after we eat, and there weren't any places with great non-alcoholic cocktails. So, we started doing pop-ups and found that people really wanted this."
