How much higher could Alonso be in the championship this year? From Formula_Nerds F1
Fernando Alonso says that Alpine’s reliability is unacceptable after a double DNF at the Singapore Grand Prix.with both Alonso and teammate Esteban Ocon retiring from the race. The team lost out on major points as Alonso had started in P5 and was maintaining P6 before he suffered engine failure. Ocon also suffered from an engine failure later on in the race.
“I think it was around minus 50 [points], so now we have another eight. So it’s minus 58 points or minus 60 in a year, which is really unacceptable on my car. “So that is probably more accurate of the performance that we are putting this year, which I’m very proud of. Even today, the top five or top six we were fighting for. But the standings doesn’t translate to performance.”
