By 2030, Toyota is aiming for 80% of its North American sales to be for electrified vehicles
Sales of Toyota 's hybrid vehicles jumped a considerable 66% in the first half of the year. Toyota and Lexus hold almost a 60% share of the U.S. hybrid vehicle market. All major Toyota models sold in the U.S. will be offered as hybrids by 2030 as the carmaker looks to further lock down the market. Toyota and Lexus currently hold almost a 60% share of the U.S.
Between January and June, Toyota had a 15% share of the total passenger car market in North America and hybrids accounted for 33% of the firm’s total sales. By 2030, it wants roughly 80% of its North American sales to be for electrified vehicles, including EVs. With a potential Trump presidency on the horizon, it’s understandable why Toyota wants to double down on hybrids.
