A quarter of Almira students are Hispanic, according to fall 2022 enrollment data. Multiple staff members are Hispanic, too, including assistant principal Mr. Roberto Davila, who’s helping lead the school’s celebration.

Photo by Cameron FieldsCLEVELAND, Ohio -- A small group of students stands by Almira Elementary School’s public address system microphone, poised to inform the school about today’s featured famous person for Hispanic Heritage Month.
Many Hispanic students at Almira are of Puerto Rican descent, but one of Almira’s main goals for Hispanic Heritage Month is to celebrate more than just Puerto Rican culture. The students are also learning about different cultures in class. Mr. Paul March, Almira’s music teacher, assigned a class to research different Latin music like merengue, salsa and mariachi.
