Former Rockets favorite Vernon Maxwell has started his own podcast and he had Allen...

With Maxwell playing the role of host, Iverson told the stories, including a couple about the short time they spent together as teammates in Philadelphia. After playing six seasons with the Rockets, including winning the franchise's first championship in 1994 before walking out on the team during the 1995 playoffs, Maxwell bounced around the league and eventually teamed up with Iverson in Philadelphia in 2000.

Iverson described their relationship as more big brother-little brother than just teammates, and Maxwell played that big brother role on the court by serving as his younger teammate's enforcer. Iverson recalled one particular incident where a defender had fouled him hard and Maxwell intervened. "I just remember Vern telling the guy, 'Look, don’t do that again, because he’s gonna pay my fine. So, if you foul him like that one more time, there's going to be some repercussions,'" Iverson said."Man, I don't think anybody breathed on me anymore after that."

Maxwell's time with Iverson was short. He lasted just 24 games with the 76ers before being released and eventually finishing out his career with 19 games with the Mavericks later that season before retiring. Nearly 22 years after Maxwell was released, Iverson still remembers showing up to the 76ers practice facility and causing a scene when his partner wasn't there.

"I'm looking around. I go downstairs acting like I had to use the bathroom and I start calling him on the phone and the man wouldn't answer the phone so I come back upstairs and I'm asking everybody, 'Where's Vern at?,' and everybody's looking at me crazy," Iverson said."Nobody was saying anything.
