Officers may have only gotten this case because someone called 911 and hung up. A woman 'crying and appeared distraught' said she went to an unknown man's home.

Jose Gomez was bitten by a sheriff's office K9 and taken to the hospital, where he "showed signs as if he was in a physical altercation with another person," court documents say, July 15, 2024. He was later released and booked into jail. Dispatch in Florida sent them to investigate, early Monday morning, July 15, and they reported seeing a woman who “would walk at a slow pace, changing speeds to jogging, then back to walking,” court documents say.

“The male was currently shirtless with no shoes would refer to himself as Chico or Migo and the two would communicate through Google Translate. Other officers were called while the victim reportedly said, “Once inside the apartment, she observed the unknown male begin to partake in illegal narcotics and described the narcotics as a white crystal substance. This white crystallized substance is commonly referred to as methamphetamine.“She did, however, drink a glass of water which the provided to her. Once she consumed the water, she began to feel off, describing her reflexes as slow and her arm going numb.

At one point, “She was able to face the male again and began scratching him, and was able to kick him in the face to create distance. “While doing so, she ran away and was able to successfully exit the apartment complex where she observed officers in the area.” “I attempted to ask her further questions regarding the incident while she was awake,” the detective wrote, “but it was difficult to get a response due to her quickly falling back asleep.

As for Gomez, the detective wrote, “The suspect Jose Gomez was barricaded in the apartment building located at and was possibly armed.”
