The Bay Area killings happened within six days of each other, in different East Oakland neighborhoods.
STOCKTON — Wesley Brownlee, the Bay Area native identified by police as the man responsible for at least seven randomly-targeted homicides in Stockton and Oakland, has been hit with four new murder charges, including an Oakland shooting that had not been publicly linked to him before.
Brownlee, 43, was charged Tuesday with murder in connection with the April 2021 shootings of Juan Vasquez Serrano, 40, and Melvin Harmon, 39 — shot just six days apart in different parts of East Oakland — as well as the July 8 killings of Paul Yaw, 35, and August Salvador Debudey Jr., 43, both fatally shot in Stockton. He was also charged with attempting to murder Natasha LaTour, a Stockton woman believed to be the only survivor of Brownlee’s shootings.
With these new charges, Brownlee now faces seven counts of murder in connection with five fatal Stockton shootings and two in Oakland. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges Jan. 3.
