All trains between Bolton and Preston have been cancelled following the discovery of a body on the tracks this afternoon .
TransPennine Express trains between Manchester Airport and Carlisle, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh are also expected to be affected. National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bolton and Preston. To allow them to safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.
"All stations between Preston and Salford Crescent will not be served. You may use your ticket on Metrolink services to or from Manchester Airport, and Manchester city centre at no extra cost.
