Each time you walk this beautiful staircase in the city's Inner Sunset District you'll spot something new.
Chelsea Davis, Special to SFGate
Today, the staircase is a project of the San Francisco Parks Alliance and the Department of Public Works'. The stairs are also a reflection of San Francisco's strong communities who care about their neighborhoods — from the volunteers who helped with the marketing and public relations efforts, to the actual assembling of the decorative mosaics and installation, to the community members who regularly maintain the stairs and their nearby gardens.
The rest of the staircase is full of flowers, a butterfly, bees, giant salamander, dragonfly, stunning California poppy and more. Each section of the stairs also showcases its own set of insects, from ants to lady bugs, and flora and fauna continue until you reach the top of the staircase at Lawton Street and 16th Avenue.
