While Northamptonshire might be landlocked there are still plenty of places within easy reach where you can go to enjoy the seaside
The UK is set to enjoy another heatwave with parts of the country set to experience temperatures of around 30C. For many when the hot weather comes, the first thing they want to do is head off to the coast to soak up the sun and play in the sand and the sea.
We've included approximate travel times - although these will vary depending on where you're located.Of course, during the coronavirus pandemic you should be aware of current guidelines around lockdown, social distancing and travel. Check local information for each of the beaches ahead of travel. While the long open beach is perfect for sunbathing and building sandcastles, and the sea is clean enough to paddle in.
Off the beach, there's plenty of traditional seaside attractions including crazy golf, fairground rides, and outdoor swimming pool. The wide and unspoilt expanse of golden sands is perfect for sandcastles, walks and kite flying. Its size and position means it's also really popular spot for kite surfing.
East Beach is bordered by our large seafront greens, perfect for picnics, ball games and host to various events throughout the year. Central beach, also known as the golden mile between Britannia and Wellington Piers, is full of activities and attractions for the kids so it's hugely popular with families. There's also a promenade running alongside the seafront with a range of shops, cafes and ice-cream stalls. There's also good access for prams and wheelchairs.
It's a really popular spot for sports too, including kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding and classic beach activities such as volleyball and frisbee.
