JOHOR BARU: All temporary relief centres (PPS) in Johor have been closed after the state was affected by floods for almost a month.
The state disaster management committee said the remaining 141 evacuees, who earlier sought shelter at two PPS in Batu Pahat, were allowed to return home yesterday after the flood situation improved.
The evacuees were from Parit Terus, Parit Yusof, Parit Warijo, Kampung Parit Lapis Bangas, Taman Desa Suria, Taman Berlian, Taman Melur, Kampung Parit Awang and Kampung Baru B2. Although the flood situation gradually improved over the weeks in other parts of the state, Batu Pahat was still affected due to the district’s bowl-shaped terrain, which trapped the floodwaters from flowing out to sea.
