On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick's office announced that Patrick was diagnosed with viral pneumonia early Thursday morning and will be working from home until he recovers. Senators used the word "cancelled" to describe Sunday's Senate convening. Patrick's office was not immediately available to comment on the Lieutenant Governor's condition and how it could impact a fourth special session, if it should come this week.

Monday afternoon, Patrick's campaign office said Patrick has canceled all of his meetings scheduled this week and has spoken with President Pro Tempore of the Senate Charles Schwertner, who will likely preside in Patrick's absence. The campaign office said the Senate is "fully prepared to address any issues the Governor may include in a fourth special session and will again move promptly to pass substantial legislation to the House.

Sunday evening, Lt. Gov. Patrick shared comments on X, formerly known as Twitter, which were notedly dialed back from previous criticisms of the Speaker and the House's work. He wrote that "There are good things in the bill, but also problems that need to be addressed to protect the public... I spoke to about this issue today and I know it’s important to him too."
