The country's PM Jacinda Ardern said her government ‘had not taken the decision lightly’ but made ‘no apologies’ as it was an ‘unprecedented time’.
Speaking on Radio NZ, the prime minister said: ‘This decision will mean New Zealand will have the widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world.’
