An inclusive rugby league team is learning skills and meeting new people ahead of playing in a NRL curtain raiser when the Dolphins play the Bulldogs in Bundaberg.

Because of his autism, however, the eight-year-old has struggled to find a place in traditional sporting clubs.

Daly will be among all-abilities players in a NRL curtain raiser when the Redcliffe Dolphins play the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Bundaberg on July 30.Support worker and coach, Todd Jamieson, said there was already a buzz knowing the NRL game would be coming to town. "It's going to be an exciting day and I'm sure a lot of these kids will remember it for the rest of their lives. I know I will."

While the Sunshine Coast and Mackay have similar all-abilities programs, Wide Bay residents had been without one until the program began.Liam Walsh, 27, said it was exciting to be able to play in front of such a large crowd."I won't be nervous. I'll make sure the kids are alright when we go out on the field.""It's going to be something new that I'm willing to try," he said.Fellow 12-year-old Nate Wochnik said he was very excited.
