Other Star Wars projects continue building on the characters from the original trilogy by filling in plot holes and finishing their initial arcs.

One of the strongest things about the Star Wars universe is that characters can be recycled and used in other shows and movies in the franchise, and none have made more appearances in new titles than those from the original trilogy. Many characters have returned in their own shows or movies, like Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story or Princess Leia in Star Wars Rebels.

Leia Organa Leia’s character has made cameo appearances in other Star Wars titles that took place before the original trilogy, namely in an episode of Rebels, a cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and a pivotal role in Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. However, Leia has only appeared in the three sequel trilogy films when it comes to appearances after the events of Return of the Jedi. Despite this, of all the characters from the original trilogy, Leia’s had the most to do in the films.

Chewbacca Chewbacca has appeared in multiple projects that take place before the original Star Wars trilogy, like Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Solo, and a cameo in The Clone Wars. Additionally, the Wookiee also appeared in all three of the sequel films. In fact, besides Lando, Chewie was the only other main character from the original trilogy to survive through to the end of the Skywalker saga, a reversal of his story in Legends.

Yoda Master Yoda was integral in Luke Skywalker’s Jedi training in the original trilogy, and his character was further explored in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and The Clone Wars. After the events of the original trilogy, Yoda appeared as a Force ghost to Luke in The Last Jedi to encourage him to learn from his failures and embrace the Jedi way.

Nien Nunb - The Sullustan was best known for being Lando’s co-pilot during the Battle of Endor. He appeared in all three sequel films, serving as an X-wng pilot for the Resistance. Nunb was killed during the Battle of Exegol aboard the Tantive IV in The Rise of Skywalker.Wedge Antilles - An iconic Red Squadron pilot who also appeared in episodes of Rebels, Wedge manned the guns of the Millennium Falcon alongside Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian at Exegol.
