9 Claire Phelps Claire Phelps is introduced in the first Mission: Impossible movie as a morally ambivalent IMF agent. Married to Ethan’s mentor Jim Phelps, she works with Ethan after a mole threatens to sell out national secrets to an illegal arms dealer. Ethan and Claire share a mutual respect, even though Claire eventually ends up betraying him. The third act reveals her to be a treasonous agent, as she conspires with her husband to steal a crucial CIA list.
6 Lindsey Farris While Ethan managed to save his fiancée in Mission: Impossible III, he couldn’t rescue his protégé, Lindsey Farris. One of the many IMF agents to be killed off in the franchise, she was originally trained by Ethan in fighting styles like the Filipino martial art of Eskrima. Ethan initially rescued her from the clutches of villainous arms dealer Owen Davian, but it turned out that the villain had planted an explosive in her head.
