Although Alien: Romulus’s sequel plan might not arrive for a while yet, the reboot’s follow-up has already avoided the main issue that derailed director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus follow-up. 2012’s Prometheus had a lot of plot holes, but this did not stop viewers from wanting a follow-up to the Alien prequel.

However, it would be dishonest to call the movie a straightforward sequel. Alien: Covenant barely even mentioned Shaw and picked up long after Prometheus’s story ended, resulting in a sequel that felt more like a loosely linked standalone story than a direct continuation.
