Alicia Silverstone's cameo appearance in Scream 5 is really unique once fans discover there is a hidden context behind it all.
While many A-List stars made cameo appearances in Scream 5, Alicia Silverstone's cameo was particularly unique as it was a deep-cut reference to the original 1996 movie. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Scream 5 picked up 25 years after the original Woodsboro murders and followed a new group of high school students who are obsessed with the Stab movies .

Alicia Silverstone also had a brief cameo in Scream 5; however, her inclusion in the movie is quite a unique one as it seems like the writers way to paying homage to the character that she almost played in the 1996 movie.
While some believe Silverstone's inclusion is the writers way of paying homage to the actor's legacy as a '90s movie icon, there's also a deeper meaning to this Easter egg. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Scream writer Kevin Williamson revealed that they had initially approached Silverstone to play Casey Becker. In his words, they "wanted the Janet Leigh opening" and planned for Drew Barrymore to be Sidney Prescott.
Alicia Silverstone's Recently Starred In Another Popular Horror Series Although Silverstone is synonymous with teen comedies thanks to her role as Cher Horowitz in Clueless, she has also branched out into other genres, such as horror and thrillers, to avoid being typecast. As well as appearing in the horror as Regina in Hideaway and Hildie in Perpetrator, Silverstone was also cast in season 2 of American Horror Stories.
