Midfielder to return to Preston North End for treatment
It was confirmed on Tuesday that the midfielder has a calf strain which has ruled him out of the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against San Marino and Slovenia.
There are no plans at this stage to call up a replacement for the 23-year-old, who is returning to his club, Preston North End, for treatment.McCann’s withdrawal means Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill still has a 24-strong panel to choose from for the home double header.The Group H qualifier against San Marino is being staged at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park on Saturday , while the match against Slovenia is set to be played at the National Football Stadium next Tuesday .
