Very few players are brave enough to wear the colours of both Celtic and Rangers during their footballing careers. However, Alfie Conn was the first to cross the divide after World War II

Few football players dare cross the Old Firm divide and turn out for both the blue and green halves of Glasgow.

The future of Scotland international's adoration of the beautiful game continued to grow despite this set back. After stepping off the rugby pitch on the Saturday morning he would race away to ensure that he arrived on time for his football game in the afternoon. In 1972 he started the European Cup Winners' Cup final against Dynamo Moscow at the Camp Noup in Barcelona. The Glasgow club would lift the trophy following a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Terry Neill would take over from Nicholson and Conn was left on the side lines as Spurs hovered above the relegation zone. The flamboyant player's full debut against Newcastle was one to remember, as he netted himself a hat-trick. Legendary boss Jock Stein managed to persuade the player to make the controversial decision and join the Hoops for £60,000.

His second year with the team was marred with injury, however, the arrival of Billy McNeill as manager in 1978 sparked a fire in the Scottish star's belly.
