Alfa Romeo and Zagato are teaming up for a modern Giulia TZ tribute.
Alfa Romeo and Zagato have enjoyed a fruitful relationship over the years, but the last time the automaker and design house worked together officially was in the early Nineties. Zagato built, but did not design, the Alfa Romeo SZ and RZ. Now, though, the two have reunited for a special version of the Giulia.Zagato posted the teaser above to its Instagram story, showing what appears to be a rear light bar for an upcoming model, the Giulia SWB Zagato.
The first product of Alfa's Sixties and Seventies competition arm, Autodelta, the original TZ debuted in 1962 and a successor, the TZ2, arrived in 1964. Both are distinguished by their abrupt"Kamm-tail" rear ends, used to help lower drag. The TZ siblings notched up a number of important race wins throughout the Sixties, and are highly desirable collector cars today. Zagato made a tribute to the TZ in 2010 in the form of the TZ3, which was based on the Dodge Viper.
