... you get it. But searching for public chargers for those EVs can still be a pain as the infrastructure to support electrics continues to be fleshed out. Amazon is looking to help make the charging process just a little less stressful by partnering with charging provider EVgo and enabling Amazon's Alexa voice service to not only help you find charging spots, but also pay at EVgo stations without needing to whip out a physical credit card or charging pass.
The partnership works not only in conjunction with Alexa, but EVgo's PlugShare—an"EV community" according to EVgo—and EVgo Inside—EVgo's Application Programming Interface —to help users findon PlugShare in the U.S.
Now, all an EV owner needs is to have either an Alexa-equipped vehicle or a device like Amazon's Echo Auto and say,"Alexa, find an." Once the charge is complete, the owner can then request the session be paid through their Amazon account by saying,"Alexa, pay for my charge." Amazon says that while they are partnering with EVgo now, it will only be the first of many charging stations to come to its Alexa service for card-free payments.
