U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia sentenced Alex Tannous to 30 months more than the recommended guideline range of 14 to 17.5 years.

A man who claimed to be a Saudi prince and a diplomat to defraud investors of more than $2 million will be living life as a federal prisoner for the next 20 years. Alex Georges Tannous , a 39-year-old native of Lebanon , also must serve three years’ probation, during which time he’ll have to perform 2,000 hours of community service as part of a sentence handed down Thursday. He also must pay his victims about $2.2 million in restitution. U.S.

While only three victims were referenced in the indictment, prosecutors say Tannous defrauded dozens more by claiming to be Emirati royalty or a diplomat with access to millions of dollars.
