Which? has compared the prices of Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Ocado and Waitrose to find the least expensive
Aldi's 16-month reign as the UK's cheapest supermarket has come to an end with a close rival beating it by just 17p.
Asda was ranked third at £82.11 followed by Tesco at £85.34 and then Sainsbury's at £85.88. Morrisons was the sixth most expensive at £86.35 and the survey found that Waitrose was once again the dearest at £91.15 with Ocado just behind at £90.37.Consumer watchdog Which? also compared the cost of a larger trolley of 135 items – the original 44, plus 91 more. For the larger shop, Asda remained the cheapest supermarket, where it cost £328.
Which? says it does not include loyalty prices as not every shopper is able to sign up to loyalty schemes. Ele Clark, Which? Retail Editor, told the Mirror they do do not reveal the items used in its monthly comparisons so the results cannot be "skewered" by retailers.
