Alaska's job recovery is projected to continue in 2023

So this is just kind of a return to normalcy.” Another limiting factor, she said, is that Alaska came into the pandemic in a weak position, following a three-year recession. The state was just starting to add jobs back from that recession when COVID-19 hit in early 2020.
