A small plane carrying 10 people disappeared over Alaska on Thursday afternoon, prompting an extensive search and rescue operation that continued into the night. The Bering Air Caravan, en route from Unalakleet to Nome, vanished from radar less than an hour after takeoff. Authorities are working to pinpoint its last known coordinates. The aircraft was carrying nine passengers and a pilot.

The Nome Volunteer Fire Department reported that ground crews were scouring the coast from Nome to Topkok, facing challenges due to weather and limited visibility.
