The vote to override failed 39 to 20, one vote shy of the two-thirds of the combined bodies needed to pass.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska House and Senate met in joint session on Monday, March 18, to determine whether to override Governor Mike Dunleavy’s veto of an omnibus education bill.
After passing the House in a vote of 38 to 2 and the Senate in a vote of 19 to 1, Dunleavy threatened to veto the package as it was, saying it does not go far enough to incentivize teachers and support charter schools. Ultimately, the vote to override failed 39 to 20, one vote shy of the two-thirds of the combined bodies needed to pass.
