Days of negotiations ensued, as it became clear that many in the House viewed this as the legislature’s chance to comprehensively tackle education early in the session. On Wednesday evening, a series of amendments came and went, some withdrawn by their sponsors, others voted down. It falls far short of what education advocates say is necessary due to a lack of substantial increases in the last 10 years, and high inflation over the last two.
