Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy granted clemency to five people with prior drug or alcohol-related convictions on their record.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - that William May, Richard Vicknair, Daniel Smith, Daniel Woods, and Kit Stavrum were granted clemency due to “efforts consistent with changing their life.”
“Clemency is a tool that recognizes when people have paid their debt to society, have taken responsibility and rebuilt their lives,” Dunleavy said in a statement.Vicknair — sale of a depressant, hallucinogenic, or stimulant drug in 1970Woods — persons under 21 on alcohol premises in 2002Dunleavy’s press release did not state what type of clemency was granted to each person. Clemency in Alaska can be in the form of a pardon, commutation, reprieve or a remission of fines.
