Both Nashville International Airport (BNA) and Alaska Airlines issued similar statements on the matter.
One hundred and seventy-six passengers on an Alaska Airlines flight scheduled to land in Seattle had to exit the aircraft before ever taking off due to a " potential traffic conflict " which caused the plane's tires to deflate from heat buildup.
Both Nashville International Airport and Alaska Airlines issued similar statements on the matter, stating Flight 369 had to abort takeoff due to a potential conflict on the runway. The crew had received clearance for takeoff when they were forced to apply the brakes, causing heat buildup in the tires. The crew was able to make it close to the terminal when the tires deflated and passengers deplaned.
Alaska Airlines stated "We're grateful for the expertise of our pilots who immediately applied the brakes to prevent the incident from escalating. We’re deeply sorry for the concerning experience this created for our guests and crew members. Thankfully, no injuries were reported by our guests or crew members."
The airline added another aircraft was deployed to the airport to transport guests to their intended destination Thursday night."The crew of Alaska Airlines Flight 369 discontinued their takeoff because Southwest Airlines Flight 2029 was cleared to cross the end of the same runway at Nashville International Airport. The Alaska Airlines crew reported blown tires during braking. The FAA is investigating the incident, which occurred around 9:15 a.m. local time on Thursday, Sept. 12.
