Hester, 36, is charged with murder in the 2003 slaying of 35-year-old Wendy Benson, according to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson.Hester’s father, 62-year-old Richard Truelock, was arrested late last year on the same charge.The sheriff said there were obvious signs of foul play, but no additional details have been released.
“The homicide was investigated by Lee County Sheriff’s investigators for many years,” Johnson said, “however eventually this case turned cold and leads came to an end.” Last year, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation met with sheriff’s investigators and reopened the case because of new technology and forensic testing, as well as other information that the sheriff said was not available during the initial probe.Hester’s bond is set at $100,000. Both she and her father remain in the Lee County Jail in Tupelo.
