Davis’ decision follows calls by Ivey, as well as a number of other state officials, in urging him to resign.On Friday, Ivey said she would convene a Tuesday afternoon meeting of the State Board of Veterans’ Affairs to consider Davis’ removal as commissioner. “As members of the Alabama Legislature, we have proudly passed legislation and allocated resources to advance our state’s support for its veteran men and women. However, we share a lack of confidence in the current Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner’s ability to adequately lead the agency and work collaboratively with other areas of state government.
Ivey called on Davis to resign after removing John Kilpatrick as a member from the Alabama State Board of Veterans Affairs. The governor said under Davis, the ADVA had “mishandled an ARPA grant program” and that he failed to consult with the governor’s office as required by
