Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg, Zac Cockrell, Steve Johnson and Ben Tanner -- members of the Grammy-winning band from Athens, Alabama -- reunited for a surprise performance in Tuscaloosa , Alabama, on Wednesday night. This marked their first appearance together since 2018. The band, known as Alabama Shakes , performed at Druid City Brewing Company as part of the Tuscaloosa Get Up 3 fundraiser, which supports local artists and the brewery's mission of bringing live music to the community.
Howard, who previously participated in the Tuscaloosa Get Up events with Alabama Shakes, joked about the band's early days playing small venues in Tuscaloosa, referencing her friendship with the event organizer, Druid City Brewing Company co-founder, and local music champion, Hicks.
