Alabama State Senator Garlan Gudger has a response to House Bill 392, the proposed legislation that would change the Alabama Public Service Commission (PSC) fro

Gudger is the President Pro Tempore of the Alabama Senate. He writes in a statement released on Wednesday, Feb. 25, that after consulting his constituents, he believesthat House Bill 392 can garner the votes necessary to pass.

Instead, he says Alabama lawmakers should turn their attention to providing Alabamians with an effective and fiscally responsible government. Although Gudger does not offer an alternative to the bill or the power issues facing Alabama, he says he's guided forward by three convictions: that power bills are placing growing hardships on Alabama residents, that the peoples' right to choose who governs them is sacred and that out-of-state forces will try to influence Alabama to weaken our power grid. Gudger is calling for the Alabama House of Representatives, Senate and Governor to work together to combat what he calls "liberal environmentalists who will force our rates skyrocket." Gudger says that the bill "appeared too quick, moved too fast, addressed the issue too narrowly, and did not provide the public with enough information." With the cooperation of the Alabama government branches, he believes that they can devise a plan to improve energy affordability for Alabama citizens."Together – my colleagues in the Alabama State Senate, my friends in the House of Representatives, Speaker Ledbetter, our Governor, and all the people of Alabama — we will build a plan that preserves our rights, protects our families, and secures a strong future," Gudger writes. "Not a plan written in California, not a plan shaped in Beijing, but an Alabama plan built by Alabama's people for Alabama's people."Jimmy Rush has a constant craving... for oysters.Always has, at least for most of his 99 years.Father sought by police as Mobile mom says 4-year-old beaten and hospitalized 2/24/26 UPDATE:The Mobile Police Department responded to a report involving a juvenile who required medical treatment.
