The sheriff said he sent a video message to someone in which he threatened to kill a woman and her family.
Ronald Branch Barnette, of Richmond, is charged with first-degree making a terrorist threat, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver announced Wednesday. The investigation began April 22 when Shaver says Barnette had sent a video message to someone in which he threatened to kill a woman and her family.
Additional details of the threats weren’t released. The woman’s children attended Cedar Bluff School. Because of the nature of the threats, the sheriff said, additional deputies were assigned to provide security at the school. Barnette was ultimately taken into custody in Kentucky and extradited to Alabama.
