People are frustrated with the clock moving forward an hour.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Both tourists and Alabamians are not too happy about losing an hour of sleep.“It takes a while to recuperate from losing or gaining that extra hour,” said a visitor from Charlotte.
“A little more groggy than usual,” expressed one Montgomery resident. “It seemed like the night went by pretty quickly.” While some lawmakers are looking at the issue, Montgomery resident Larry Perdue says there are bigger issues that should take priority, saying “lawmakers need to adjust their mindset on something different other than a clock.”
Alabama is one of many states that already passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. However, before those laws can go into effect, federal law needs to change.“The extra daylight in the evening can encourage people to be more active and spend more time outdoors, which can lead to better health and wellbeing,” Tuberville explained., which passed the U.S. Senate in 2022, but was never brought to the House floor.
Barring any legisatilve action, the next time the clock changes will be on Nov. 3, when time falls back an hour.
