A team of five people has been sent to Houston to set up emergency shelter for any potential hurricane victims.
) - While Red Cross societies across the Caribbean are rushing in to help with storm relief, the Red Cross in Alabama is preparing for Beryl to hit Texas.
“Cause that’s our number one priority, is making sure that people have a safe place to stay away from the storm’s impacts,” said Annette Rowland with the Red Cross of Alabama-Mississippi. Another team could be deployed this weekend, carrying even more supplies such as tarps, water, and meal kits. “Until it makes landfall, we’re not sure what type of impact Beryl is going to make, but because we’re going to have people there, we will be able to get on the ground quickly,” Rowland added.“If you have family who may be in the path of Beryl, please communicate with them,” she said. “Make sure that they’re okay. Make sure that they have a plan in place.”“Alabama is full of generosity,” Rowland said.
