Christian Leary becomes the second Alabama wide receiver to transfer to UCF since the end of the 2021 season.
Leary, an Orlando native, will return home and play for Gus Malzahn, who led UCF to a 9-4 record and Military Bowl appearance this season.
Leary becomes the second Alabama wide receiver to transfer to UCF since the end of the 2021 season. Javon Baker transferred this past summer after two seasons with Alabama, and led the Knights with 747 yards on 54 catches this season. Leary was one of four Alabama wide receivers who have entered the transfer portal in the past three weeks, joining fellow sophomore JoJo Earle, junior Traeshon Holden and freshman Aaron Anderson. Holden announced his transfer Sunday to Oregon.
Appearing in 10 games this season mostly on special teams, Leary caught one pass for six yards. He appeared in eight games as a freshman in 2021, converting to running back midseason when injuries struck that position. He caught two passes for four yards, including one touchdown, and ran three times for 22 yards. Leary also returned one punt his freshman season.
