Alabama has Power 4 non-conference games scheduled through 2035. That might see some changes, Alabama AD Greg Byrne said in a Monday interview with AL.com.
These home-and-home series announcements began in 2018 for dates with Notre Dame in 2028 and 2029. The first of these matchups came in 2022 and 2023 when Texas was still a Big 12 member. To date, Alabama has Power 4 non-conference games on the ledger through the 2035 season.

Having an odd number of conference games is a complicating factor since teams will have five SEC home dates one year and four the next. Does that mean Alabama will have only six games in Bryant-Denny Stadium every other year?Ohio State has been able to maintain at least seven home games while playing nine Big Ten conference games a year. Last season, it had eight regular-season home dates since it didn’t play a non-conference Power 4 game. The Buckeyes welcomed Akron , Western Michigan and Marshall for the first three games of the year before playing five Big Ten games in Ohio Stadium. Nebraska, another Big Ten member, was one of those schools that canceled the Power 4 home-and-home series. It had games with Tennessee in 2026 and 2027 before backing out this February. The Huskers are now set to face a 2026 non-conference schedule including Ohio, Bowling Green and North Dakota followed by 2027 visits from Northern Illinois, Miami and Northern Illinois, Indiana also nixed home and homes with Louisville and Virginia to play all Group of Five/FCS opponents for non-conference games through the 2029 season. “I know the Big Ten was critical,” Byrne said. “The Big Ten was critical of our eight-game conference schedule. But if I’m not mistaken, the SEC had already required playing a Power 4 non-conference game. That’s going to continue with nine.
