DOTHAN, Ala. - Alabama lawmakers will return to Montgomery Tuesday to begin the state’s 2026 legislative session, joining Governor Kay Ivey for her final session in office. State Representative Rick Rehm continues to focus on his major agenda items after hearing from constituents last week.Rehm also wants to make Alabama the most military-friendly state and said he is working on new bills to ensure veterans are well cared for. The representative is also working on six local bills for Houston and Henry counties, which he calls essential to his district. “Because, at the end of the day, some of the most important bills you can have are those that would help in your local community,” Rehm said. “It’s quite a job to have to go up and work in Montgomery. I try to get home as quick as I can so I can be back in the Wiregrass. But, I’m willing to do this for my constituents, so I’m proud to do it.” Rehm is seeking his second term in the legislature and was recently endorsed by the Alabama Farmers Federation for Alabama House District 85.The primary election is scheduled for May 19.
