The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks in a thrilling matchup, maintaining their position as a top contender in the SEC.

The Alabama Crimson Tide secured a hard-fought 85-81 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks, propelling themselves to a 20-3 record for the season and a commanding 9-1 mark in SEC play. This win is likely to catapult Alabama to the No. 1 spot in the AP poll, as Auburn, previously ranked No. 1, suffered a loss to Florida earlier in the day. Adding to the excitement, Alabama will be hosting ESPN's College Gameday next week at Coleman Coliseum when Auburn comes to town.

The Crimson Tide faced a formidable challenge against an Arkansas team that had been playing exceptionally well, coming off victories against Kentucky and Texas. Bud Walton Arena, known for its hostile environment, presented another obstacle for the Tide.Alabama's shooting prowess was evident in the first half, outperforming Arkansas significantly. However, turnovers hampered their efforts to build a substantial lead. Despite committing 20 turnovers in their previous game against Georgia, Alabama began the game with more miscues, surrendering possession nine times in the first half alone. Arkansas, though struggling to find their offensive rhythm, capitalized on Alabama's turnovers, scoring only seven points off of them. Despite Arkansas's attempts to stay close, Alabama maintained a lead of no more than 10 points throughout the first half, heading into the locker room with a 40-34 advantage. The second half saw a similar pattern unfold, with Alabama continuing to lead but Arkansas refusing to let them pull away. With 6:29 remaining, Alabama held an 18-point lead, seemingly poised for an easy victory. However, Arkansas staged a dramatic comeback, mounting a 12-0 run that cut Alabama's advantage to just three points. The game remained tense as the lead fluctuated between three and five points. Ultimately, Zvonimir Ivisic's layup brought Arkansas within two points, prompting a timeout from Alabama coach Nate Oats with 38.3 seconds left on the clock. After a missed three-pointer by Aden Holloway, Arkansas had one last opportunity to tie the game. With 10.6 seconds remaining, John Calipari called a timeout, hoping to orchestrate a final play. Arkansas's Chris Youngblood made one of two free throws, but Ivisic lost the rebound out of bounds. After a successful Alabama inbound, Youngblood added another free throw, sealing the 85-81 victory for the Crimson Tide. Grant Nelson led Alabama with 15 points, while Ivisic paced all scorers with 27 points and seven rebounds
