MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Governor Kay Ivey has awarded grants totaling more than $473,000 to 11 agencies that serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in many counties across Alabama.
2nd Chance Inc. has received $20,000 to support services, including emergency shelter, counseling, and transportation for domestic violence victims in Calhoun, Cleburne, Etowah, and Talladega counties. YWCA Central Alabama has received a $33,000 grant to assist victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, stalking, and harassment in Blount, Jefferson, and St. Clair counties.
Montgomery Area Family Violence Program, better known as Family Sunshine Center, is using a $52,000 grant to provide emergency shelter, counseling, advocacy, and support to victims of sexual assault in Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes, and Montgomery counties. Tuscaloosa SAFE Center Inc. has received $54,500 to assist sexual assault victims in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.
