Representative Jerry Carl is one of 50 Alabama delegates at the Republican National Convention that kicked off in Milwaukee Monday.He says a culmination of factors is creating that enthusiasm for the race, including Ohio Senator J.D. Vance being tapped to run as vice president.
Former Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, who is also serving as a delegate, says the attempted assassination Saturday is bringing people together. "What happened really energized and galvanized the attendees and the delegates here at the convention. I think everybody is ready to lock arms together coming out of this convention," said Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen."Security, as you can imagine, is amped up," said Allen. "So much fencing, so many barriers, so many barricades and just the sheer number of law enforcement that is here.
