The prosecutor handling the Dadeville shooting that killed four and injured 32 others is tasked with the Tuskegee homecoming shooting investigation.

Tuskegee University has replaced its security chief and established a new policy requiring identification for entry and to be worn at all times on campus.Segrest said he received the call about the Dadeville shooting about 1:30 a.m. and was on the scene before daylight. “So, from that standpoint, been a little less overwhelming for me personally because I know how awesome these folks are, and I’ve got 100 percent faith in them and the process they go through in methodically processing the crime scene,’’ Segrest said.
“There’s always unintended consequences,’’ he said, mentioning Alabama’s Stand Your Ground law which was signed by former Gov. Bob Riley.“Now, with that being said and being the law, if somebody pulls out a gun in a crowded parking lot, and someone else pulls their out too, and they start shooting, they can make self-defense claims .... because nobody has a duty to retreat.”
