Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer makes changes to his coaching staff, handing over the reins of inside linebackers to long-time collaborator Coach Morrell.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has made some changes to his coaching staff. Coach Morrell , who previously worked with all linebackers, will now focus specifically on the inside linebackers in 2025. Coach Kane Wommack, who held the 'inside linebackers coach' title this season, will now concentrate solely on his role as defensive coordinator. Christian Robinson will continue to coach the outside or 'WOLF' linebackers.
Morrell has a long history with DeBoer, having served as his defensive coordinator at Sioux Falls from 1999-2009. DeBoer was the head coach at Sioux Falls from 2005, winning three NAIA Championships. Morrell was also a three-time Frontier Conference Coach of the Year during his time as head coach at Montana Tech from 2011-2019. He served as Fresno State's safeties coach under DeBoer in 2020 and 2021, and Washington's co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach from 2022-2023. Together, they led the Huskies to a National Championship appearance in 2023 after an undefeated regular season.
