Walker’s family’s attorney, Bobby DiCello, said officers shot 90 times, hitting Walker 60 times in the face, abdomen, buttocks, back, both arms and both legs, as he fled after a chase that ended about 12:30 a.m. Monday in a Main Street parking lot.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Black Lives Matter and the NAACP have organized rallies in Akron this weekend in support of Jayland Walker, a 25-year-old man fatally shot by eight Akron police officers.

Police say officers shot Walker after a gun was fired from his car, but have released few details, including the names of the officers or how many shots were fired. Walker ran from his car and “posed a deadly threat” to officers, police said. “The senseless killings of unarmed Black Americans are tragic events our country continues to relive,” Brown said. “We owe it to Jayland Walker and his family to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation of his death.”to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland pushing for the Department of Justice to monitor the investigation.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to the attorney general’s office for comment Saturday.
