Zyeir Saunders, 22, of Akron, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault in connection with the death of 21-year-old Teyaurra Harris in April 2022.
Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison McCarty ordered that Zyeir Saunders, 22, spend 35 to 40½ years in prison, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said in a news release. The sentencing comes after Saunders pleaded guilty on July 7 to involuntary manslaughter and four counts of felonious assault in connection with the murder of Teyaurra Harris, 21. All charges include gun specifications.
Prosecutors say Small believed the shots were coming from the car with Harris inside and he opened fire. Harris, who was six-weeks pregnant, died after she was struck in the head by a bullet. Johnson was struck twice in the leg. Smith, who is charged with two counts of felonious assault with gun specifications, carrying a concealed weapons and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, is scheduled for trial on Aug. 14.
