The Downtown Akron Lunar New Year Celebration is set for Feb. 28 at the Akron Civic Theatre.

AKRON, Ohio – The Downtown Akron Lunar New Year Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Akron Civic Theatre. It’s the fifth year Downtown Akron Partnership has hosted the celebration. Lunar New Year is celebrated in many Asian countries on the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ending on the first full moon of the calendar .

This year’s celebration will usher in the Year of the Horse, according to the event news release. The event opens with a culture fair at 3:30 p.m., featuring local vendors, educational booths, free crafts, photo opportunities and food. The theatre is located at 182 S. Main St.“Lunar New Year is such a festive and joyous time when we wish prosperity for our family and friends.
