A 20-year-old man is the second man sentenced in connection to the murder of 16-year-old Jamarian Coffey.
According to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, Daryeus Jones was sentenced to 21.5 to 27 years in prison for the murder.
At the end of July, Jones pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and carrying a concealed weapon. Domonic Herring, 23, also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery in 2023 in connection to the murder.In 2022, the prosecutor’s office said Jones and Herring met up with Coffey and another man on Jefferson Avenue near West Exchange Street in Akron.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Jones and Herring confronted Coffey and shot him several times.
