The Chiefs advanced to Class A Region 1 Tournament semifinals at Crenshaw Christian on Thursday against the host Cougars. Helms earned a two-run double in the first inning, a single in the second inning and a grand slam homer and a two-run double in the fourth inning. She flied out to the third baseman in the sixth inning. Addison Phillips also had four hits, including two doubles, with two runs batted in and Anna Peak had three hits with one RBI. Katherine Mitchell added a hit and two RBI. Maddie Parmer was the winning pitcher after throwing five innings of relief. She gave up seven runs, but only two earned, and allowed only three hits. She struck out four and walked four. Lakeside erupted for 11 runs in the fourth inning to go up eight runs, but had to hold off the Rebels, who pulled to within a run in the sixth inning.
